Malbec

El Tomillo “Thyme” is our estate-owned vineyard located at 1,075 meters (3,500 feet) ASL in the Paraje Altamira Appellation, Uco Valley. The cool climate and vast thermal amplitude, together with sandy soils that have a high concentration of stones covered with calcium carbonate and sustainable vineyard management, offer unique conditions to produce Malbec grapes of the highest quality. Winemaking with minimal intervention produces an exceptional expression of Malbec from this unique vineyard.

When Salentein’s founder Myndert Pon visited for the first time, he was struck by the intense aroma of wild thyme growing abundantly in the vineyard. Years later, "El Tomillo" became the name of this vineyard and the birthplace of one of Salentein’s most distinguished Malbec wines.

This wine stands out for the complexity of its aromas of red fruits and spices. The palate is elegant with velvety, fine tannins, mineral and spicy notes supported by a refreshing acidity and a pleasant lingering finish.
